Anne of Green Gables
Aimee Zoe

Official Bushwick Book Club Seattle puzzle inspired by the book "Anne of Green Gables" by L. M. Montgomery

Red hair is the rarest hair color in humans. There's less than 2% of us in the world population!

Being a redhead has been a part of my identity for as long as I can remember. I was called Orphan Annie as a kid (I was actually adopted), I had to wear a nerdy t-shirt over my swimsuit at my childhood community pool, I'm consistently (to this day!) asked if I'm Irish, and/or if the carpet matches the drapes, etc.

Throughout history, redheads have been prized, feared and ridiculed across multiple cultures. Witches! Vampires! Soulless! Oh, My!

Truth is, we're genetic superheroes! Unicorns of the human world! We:

  • *produce more Vitamin D in a shorter amount of time
  • *can be from any race or ethnicity
  • *have higher pain tolerance
  • *turn white, not grey
  • *feel thermal changes more acutely

Anne Shirley, whose "temper matches her hair", inspired me to focus on some of the awesome traits that are given to us redheads.

This puzzle goes out to all my powerful, naturally red-headed heroes!

Including: Nicole Kidman, Carol Burnett, Adele, Maureen O’Hara, Reba McIntire, Susan Sarandon, Bernadette Peters, Julianne Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Chastain, Ellie Kemper, Queen Elizabeth I, Aphrodite, Mary Magdalene, Athena, Willow Rosenberg, Ginger Spice, Miranda Hobbes, Mary Jane Watson and Poison Ivy, to name but a few. Enjoy!!
